The hei matau provides protection for travel (especially over water) and through life’s journeys, offering strength, good health, fishing luck, prosperity and peace. Formed from the tangiwai variety of the rare and unique stone pipiwharauroa, this pounamu is a translucent light green, streaked with flecks of blue/green.
