The hei matau provides protection for travel (especially over water) and through life’s journeys, offering strength, good health, fishing luck, prosperity and peace. Formed from the kawakawa variety of the rare and unique stone pipiwharauroa, this pounamu is dark green and streaked with flecks of black.
