Named after the first man in the Māori creation story, the tiki is a traditional spiritual guardian and reminder of family forebearers. It symbolises fertility, inner knowledge and loyalty. Often carved with three fingers to represent birth, life and death. This pounamu is formed from the tangiwai variety of pipiwharauroa, offering a partially translucent olive green colour with flecks of black.
